Scope

The guide tracks 221 printed political candidates, three certified write-ins, and 31 judicial-retention candidates in Utah's state-maintained 2026 general-election data. County, municipal, local school-board, and special-district races are not included yet.

Source hierarchy

  1. Utah election filings establish active candidacies and ballot status.
  2. JPEC supplies judicial-retention recommendations and evaluation metrics.
  3. Candidate statements and campaign sites describe candidates' own backgrounds and positions. They are labeled as candidate-controlled material.
  4. Government records and reputable independent reporting provide outside context. They are kept separate from campaign claims.

AI-assisted research

A team of AI agents collected, matched, summarized, and cited information from the publicly available sources it could identify, including official filings, candidate-controlled material, government records, JPEC evaluations, and reputable independent reporting. AI-assisted research does not guarantee completeness or accuracy, so readers should use the citations to review the underlying material.

Some candidates have published very little substantive information. When reliable material could not be found, the profile remains brief or limited to official filing details rather than filling gaps with assumptions.

Research labels

Research pending/draft
An official ballot record exists, but substantive sources have not cleared the profile checks.
Source checked
The displayed factual sections have citations and passed identity and district checks. This does not mean every claim has been independently verified.
Source conflict
Collected authoritative sources disagree about an official field. The disputed facts are attributed separately and the profile is not presented as settled.
Editor reviewed
A human has reviewed the complete profile for sourcing, neutrality, and material omissions. No profiles carry this label yet.

Deliberate limitations

Missing information stays missing. The guide does not infer positions from party affiliation, turn search snippets into facts, or present allegations without reputable sourcing. Campaign material is evidence of what a candidate says; it is not independent confirmation.
