1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of UtahLocalCandidates.com (the “Site”). The Site is independently operated by its publisher (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these terms and the Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
2. Independent and unofficial service
The Site is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by the State of Utah, any county or local government, any election office, any political party, or any candidate. It is not an official ballot, election notice, voter-registration system, campaign communication, or government publication.
3. Informational use; no endorsement or advice
The Site provides general research and educational information. It does not provide legal advice, personalized voting advice, candidate endorsements, or recommendations. The inclusion, exclusion, order, detail, or research status of a profile does not indicate support for or opposition to a candidate.
4. Sources, AI assistance, and accuracy
AI agents help collect, match, summarize, and cite information from publicly available sources the research process can identify. Sources may include government records, official filings, Utah JPEC materials, candidate-controlled content, public websites, and independent reporting. Some candidates have little available information, and some records or sources conflict.
We do not promise that the Site is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Citations identify source material but do not guarantee that either the source or our summary is accurate. You are responsible for confirming important information through official election sources before relying on it.
5. Third-party content and links
The Site links to and may describe content published by governments, candidates, campaigns, news organizations, and other third parties. We do not control their content, availability, security, accuracy, or privacy practices. A link, quotation, portrait, or reference does not imply endorsement. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that service's own terms and policies.
6. Acceptable use
You may use the Site only for lawful purposes. You may not:
- interfere with, overload, probe, damage, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems;
- use automated requests at a rate that materially disrupts the Site;
- misrepresent the Site as an official government, election, campaign, or candidate service;
- remove source attribution or present altered Site content in a materially deceptive way; or
- use the Site to violate law, infringe rights, intimidate voters, or interfere with voting or election administration.
7. Intellectual property and public records
Facts and public records remain subject to the laws and source terms that apply to them. Third-party names, logos, portraits, quotations, documents, and other materials remain the property of their respective owners where applicable. The Site's original design, organization, code, and original summaries may be protected by intellectual-property law. These terms do not grant rights in third-party material.
8. Privacy and technical services
The Site does not ask you to enter your home address or voter-registration information. Links to Utah's official ballot tools take you to government websites governed by their own policies. The Site's hosting, security, and delivery providers may process routine technical data, such as IP addresses and request logs, to operate and protect the service.
9. Availability and changes
We may correct, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue content or Site features at any time. We do not guarantee continuous availability or preservation of any particular profile, citation, link, or feature.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and the Site's contributors and service providers are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or opportunities, or punitive damages arising from use of the Site. If we are found liable for any claim related to the Site, our combined total liability for all such claims will not exceed $100. This is a limit on liability, not a fee, charge, or guaranteed payment. This section does not limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute relating to these terms or the Site must be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in Utah, and you consent to that court's jurisdiction and venue, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
13. Changes, severability, and entire agreement
We may update these terms by posting a revised version and changing the “last updated” date. Changes apply prospectively when posted. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. These terms and the Disclaimer are the entire agreement between you and us concerning use of the Site.
